Garvestone Campsite
The village of Gravestone is about three miles away from the Town of Dereham, which is just back up the B1135. Map Reference TG 023 073


Complete freedom for the youngsters, in complete privacy, to let off steam with no noise worries in a one acre field.

An outdoor area which is ideal for all types of outdoor games and projects.

A gravelled area, at the rear of the HQ for the parking up to ten vehicles.

A banked campfire site that is ideal for those “sing a long” nights.

A small copse that is good fun for the youngsters to play while not doing anything - They love it.

A corner of the site that has been blessed so that you can hold those all important outdoor “Scouts Own”.

Fire wood is provided and stored in it’s own area away from the campfire site for safety.


The Headquarters
This is an Arcon prefabricated building which is 20ft by 30ft. It contains a fully functional kitchen area with two gas cookers for all that cooking and two sink units. There is plenty of hot water from the water heater. You also have a fridge and a fridge freezer and full cooking utensils. The kitchen also has many work tops and fitted units for all that storage.

You also have the use of a small hand sink, which  has hot and cold water, just outside the kitchen area for the youngsters to wash their hands before meals, this conforms to the latest food hygiene regulations. There is also full cleaning equipment available.

The HQ also offers you seating for up to 60 with tables, these are movable, for indoor activities in case of poor weather.

Extras
We can also offer you Archery this can be set up on the campsite with a fully trained instructor. The cost is as priced on next page under fees. This is another great way to entertain your youngsters.

We can also supply for you camp badges for Garvestone camp, these are great for adding to your camp blanket to remember the great camp.

The Town of Dereham


The local town of Dereham is a market town, which are on Tuesdays and Fridays. The town has a population in the region of 12,000. It’s name derived from the large herds of deer that roamed in the immediate vicinity.

The Church of St Nicholas and Bishop Bonner Cottages, both in the middle of town, are the most famous of Dereham’s historic buildings and offer history and fun for your youngsters so they could help with badges.

Dereham also has a swimming pool, which is on Quebec Rd at the top end of the town, and a cinema, which is in the middle of town, for those unexpected rainy days or just for a night out.

Other local facilities include a main post office, 24hr petrol station, 5 supermarkets and many shops for all your needs and all this is with FREE parking in the town centre. Norfolk’s Rural Life Museum is only a couple of miles north of the town in the village of Gressenhall, also there is the Windmill which is just off the Norwich Rd East of the Town.

Key Collection
Collection for the Campsite keys is arranged with the Warden.

Gas Bottles
Two gas bottles are situated outside the kitchen at the end of the HQ for use when cooking. On top of the cylinders is a regulator with a turnable arrow switch. The point of the arrow indicates which cylinder is in use this will show white, if this changes to red that cylinder is empty, and it will change over to the next bottle, please switch the valve off on the empty cylinder and inform the Camp Warden, so that he can replace the old with a new . And at the end of your camp please turn all gas off at the valves on the cylinders

Water
The stop cock for the water supply is located under the kitchen sink, please turn this off before you leave at the end of your stay.

Water Heater
Only switch the electric on when the main water supply is on. Within 20 to 30 minuets you will have lots of hot water to the sinks and the hand basin, switch off power before you turn off the water supply

Window Shutters
You may if wish remove the shutters from the windows, remembering to replace them when you leave the camp site.

All gas for cooking is inclusive of the price of the HQ.

A non returnable deposit of £5.00 secures a booking

The total camp fees are to be paid 10 days before your camp dates.

Arrangements for the keys is to be made with the Warden after the full payment is received.
